Greenville buys land along Church St. for open space, affordable housing

The City of Greenville plans to purchase a 6.9-acre vacant lot in the Haynie-Sirrine neighborhood, previously owned by the Stone family. City officials are under contract for the property, aiming to address concerns about traffic, gentrification, affordable housing, and greenspace as part of a 20-year comprehensive plan. The $10.7 million purchase will be funded through various city sources, with a City Council vote scheduled for August 12.
