SC homebuyers can get up to $10K in state aid for a down payment

South Carolina's housing authority is increasing aid for homebuyers starting Dec. 16, offering an additional $2,000 for down payments. This initiative aims to enhance homeownership opportunities in the state. Homebuyers can apply for up to $10,000 in a zero-interest, potentially forgivable loan for down payment and closing costs, with eligibility based on individual incomes. Most South Carolinians earn below the income limits, and the median home sales price is $340,000. The agency also plans to expand its Palmetto Heroes program for specific professions.
