South Carolina Housing Authority to launch new affordability program

The South Carolina Housing agency has launched a "workforce housing" program aimed at increasing affordable homes. The initiative plans to construct 30 single-family homes priced at a maximum of $175,000, addressing the rising median home price of $350,000. Builders will receive $10,000 per home, and qualifying buyers can access $25,000 for down payment and closing costs. Homes must be 1,000 square feet, with no location restrictions. Applications for builders are due by April 23, 2025.
